* Greenup County Tourism and the Friends of Greenbo are proud to announce that the Bid Package for the Zip Line project @ Greenbo Lake State Resort Park has been released.  We are currently in the process of locating bidders to make this attraction a reality.  We encourage community support so that we can create a vacation destination in Greenup County. 

*Bobby Allen and Cary Lyle, along with the Redneck Ridge Riders, have located a plot of land in Northwestern Greenup County between the Ohio River and AA Highway to construct a 75-100 mile Managed ATV Park.  The process has begun to ensure that we have enough acreage to produce the mileage that we need to make it a 2-3 day attraction.  We hope to get the results back from the preliminary study in a couple of weeks.  This attraction would not only create a great attraction, but would also create jobs, restaurants, camping, hotel/motel construction, and an increased tax base. 

*The Friends of Greenbo and Greenup County Tourism are working with the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Parks and Recreation to establish a Scuba Diving Refuge @ Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.  This would be a unique opportunity for the region.  With help from McCulley Eastham & Associates and Marathon Marine, we want to designate Greenbo as a scuba diving sanctuary.  This will also create fish habitats that will increase the quality of fishing @ the lake.  Please check back for updates.

January Tourism Spotlight

In January, we have decided to do our spotlight on the Ashland/Huntington West KOA.  Several years ago, the Department of Transportation began work with local county government on the Industrial Parkway.  The road was a much needed improvement in Greenup County.  The IP, as it is known locally, has added a safe, effective way for residents in Greenup County to travel to I-64.  From a tourism perspective, it created opportunities for new business and recreation.  With AT&T and Cintas located on the southern end of the IP, many residents were eager to see what was next. How about a great new place to camp and enjoy the beauty of Greenup County. The Ashland/Huntington West KOA features full hook-up sites that are convenient for RV's.  The camping cabins are air conditioned and boast full bathrooms which make for a unique vacationing opportunity.  Other features on the grounds include (2) large picnic pavilions, free wi-fi service, 24hr laundry, miniature golf, volleyball, a large swimming pool, and hiking trails.  The additional of the Ashland/Huntington West KOA help attract would be visitors and helps showcase Greenup County's natural beauty.  Next time you decide to go camping, please consider staying right here in Greenup County at the Ashland/Huntington West KOA.
